....Celebration 2004....

Celebration 2004 on November 6 was a terrific success! Guests arrived for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at the State Botanical Garden Conservatory to guitar music by Jason Gonzalez. A silent auction featured books, art prints and posters, ceramics, glass, jewelry, performance tickets, services and gift items from local artists, merchants, and friends of the museum. Alex Muraski donated four original watercolors of Georgia birds to the auction. Special thanks go to Beverly Morton and Caron Clark for making the auction sparkle. A buffet dinner by Trumps followed. Museum Director, Bud Freeman, introduced guest-of-honor Mayor Heidi Davison. Dinner speaker Giff Beaton, a Georgia ornithologist, gave a very entertaining talk “A Selected History of Birding in Georgia”. Thank you to Jeff Lewis and Gisela Gresham for lovely decorations and to all our guests and sponsors. We raised $12,000 to directly benefit Museum programs. The bird paintings were reproduced as note cards and are available from the Friends – 542-0464.
