
Mallard DuckThis is the most common duck in the world. It can be found in Europe, Asia and North America. It will live in close association with humans, building nests near small ponds in city parks. They are 16 to 24 inches long. The females are brown, while the males have an iridescent green head and red-brown breast. Both males and females have iridescent bands on their wings. Mallards feed on plants and small aquatic animals that live in the shallows of ponds. They will also eat grain and other foods.
